It seems like we here at Scales of Motion HQ go through brief, yet fairly frequent, periods of hibernation, especially lately. Craig went to Seattle on business for a few months at the end of 2010; Kevin and his wife Adrienne have taken a couple of trips to volunteer at a camp called Horn Creek in Colorado over the last several months; and I (Chris) got married to the love of my life, Penni, almost exactly one month ago, after which we took nine days to travel the southeastern U.S. on our honeymoon.
But now we’re back in full force! In many ways, it feels like we’re more active now than we’ve ever been in 10 years of being a band. Our official CD release show for Nocturnes is this Friday, the 15th, at Ida Red Boutique on Brookside with our good friends Motive for Movement and the Red Alert! Here’s the Facebook event page: Nocturnes CD Release. We’ve been on a media “blitz” of sorts over the last week or so to promote the show and the album. We made our second appearance on 104.5 The Edge’s “Homegroan” this past Sunday, and we’re in this week’s issue of Urban Tulsa Weekly. Our friend Hank Hanewinkel III even designed an awesome poster for the release show, the first real screen-printed gig poster we’ve ever had!
Thanks so much to everyone who’s supported us over the years, for all your prayers and encouragement and for all your kind words. It’s been so awesome hearing such great feedback from people about the new album! We plan to keep this momentum going and to push this album as hard as we can. We have more shows on the horizon: Next Friday, the 22nd, at TU for their annual Earth Day event and Saturday, the 30th, at Norman Music Fest 4 (we’ll be at Bill and Dee’s at 6pm). But it all starts this weekend with our CD release show, so please come and join us! It’s gonna’ be a blast!
Love and peace,
Chris
