If you’re a fan of music living in Tulsa these days, you know you’re experiencing an age of abundance. The things going on in this city right now are making all of us giddy! Great bands/artists of widely varying styles (Snorlaxx, Lizard Police, Algebra, Concussion Waltz, John Moreland, the Harvard Meats, Bearhug, the Red Alert, And There Stand Empires, to name a few); great, unique venues with energetic crowds (Soundpony, Splatterhouse, Blue Jackalope, makeshift venues like the Flores household this past weekend); great supporters of the scene like our friends at Blood Red Dirt; great, friendly, enthusiastic people; and just an overall sense of excitement and community that a lot of us haven’t experienced in a ‘scene’ since we were youngsters.
To make things even better, a lot of these bands are releasing records soon, all of which will undoubtedly be awesome: Lizard Police just finished recording with Hank Charles; Snorlaxx is going into the studio with Hank Charles next week; Algebra will be recording a new full-length with Hank soon; Concussion Waltz is recording at Armstrong this week; John Moreland’s long-awaited new album is coming very soon; and we, of course, are hard at work with Hank Charles on our next full-length.
Awesome things are happening! Come on out and get involved!
Love,
Chris
